Game of the Year Weapons upgradable with suffix mods
Just to let you know, if you buy the Game of the Year (or upgrade) you cannot put grips on the bow or hammer. Originally you could, but it got nerfed.
I propose that they change it again so you can at least put on suffix mods.
Please vote.
Also, ANet does not refund purchases, so choose carefully if you want to pay real money for inferior weapons.

If I remember correctly, the ability to change the modifiers on the Game of the Year items was a bug which Anet fixed.

they fixed it already? as far as I know, they're aware of the bug, haven't fixed it yet, but will fix it eventually.

I emailed ANet Support about this, their answer was: "There was a known issue in which players could salvage the Bonus items for modifiers and add different weapon modifiers to the Game of the Year edition items. This has since been fixed as it was never an intended feature of these items."
It's pretty slack paying real money for merely cosmetic ingame items. Have a say and maybe they'll change it again so we can add mods. I mean, imagine buying a Tormented Shield and NOT being able to put a mod on it... that is what's happening here.

There sounds like there is some miscomunication going on here. To summarise
Pre-Nightfall: Bonus items were upgradable but not salvagable
Early-Nightfall: The salvaging changes came along had the side-effect of also making bonus items salvagable (this was the counterfeiting ring referred to in the scribe)
Now: To fix the problem bonus items were put into the "unmodable" category to prevent them being salvaged. This had the side effect of making them un-upgradable as well. According to Gaile this is being "looked at".

Yet you can still salvage the perfect furious mod from the Villiany of Galrath quest reward...

They should make it so that All /bonus items, whether they are GotY or Preorder items, and collector items are moddable but not salvageable.

You wouldnt pay GW money for crappy non moddable weapons why would some one pay REAL money for them.
I was going to buy this upgrade but unless they fix this I wont and Im sure many more think like me.

They still make nice hero weapons. For 5 bucks you get a staff you can give to all your caster classes (the insightful necro one), a bow for all your rangers, a shield or a max hammer for your warriors. These are slightly better than collector weapons because they come with 1 mod at least. That and they are inifinitely renewable and apply to all your characters.

I bought the GOTY and upon realizing that the bonus items couldn't have upgrades added to them and seeing what they did, I haven't used any of them!
It serves me right for being a trigger happy shopper.
I can understand why they made them unsalvageable. I can also be fine with the decision to make them unupgradeable. But they are not worth what they are selling them for in their current form.
Right now at best, it's something you'd get in a magazine as part of a freebie CD.

Hi guys. Recently I have posted something similiar at GWOnline forum regarding the Game Of The Year bonus weapons does not come with a suffix mod and not being able to add one. You can read about it here :
http://guildwars.incgamers.com/forum...=436245&page=4
I think I over did it a little too much and somehow piss off one of the moderator so he/she close the thread. What I ask for is just simply add a suffix to the weapons. Is this too much to ask them to solve a problem which persisted since last year and is not fix till date ? If the weapons were something free like the candycane weapons I don't really mind but people pay money....real money to get these items and found out they are inferior products and Anet still openly sell it at the online store ? I'm don't want to cause any trouble here like I did with the previous thread so I'm asking all Guru forumers if they have any idea on how to improve upon this situation.
Thank you.
